So total amount spent so far....

So far in this journey I have spent £139.20. Total amount of wigs kept = 0 😭so really I haven't spent anything 🤔

From what I have read from other people who wear wigs, it is normal for you to think, this looks awful this "looks" like a wig. A few friends of mine have also told me, you will be thinking that people are looking at you, but they are not. You will be paranoid that people can tell you are wearing a wig, but most of the time they can't tell.

I really hope this gets easier and I start finding wigs that I feel comfortable wearing.

I have now started purchasing accessory items from Amazon to help with this new journey.

First item I purchased...

Set of 4 Satin Silk Pillowcases in the colour Teal, to match my current bedding.

These are great value for money you can purchase a set of 4 50 x75cm from my amazon storefront for £7.14 for the Teal, I notice the price does change depending on what colour you select.

I was advised to purchase these during my treatment as they are meant to prevent hair breakage and have other benefits such as:

  • Helps prevent hair frizz and breakage

  • keeps your skin hydrated by absorbing less moisture

  • minimizes sleep creases

After the first night of using them I did notice a big difference in how much hair had fallen out over night. Normally i wake up to loads of strands stuck to my pillow case but this time i only had a few.

Overall thoughts...

Highly recommend, amazing price and great range of colours available and does help with hair breakage.

Second item I purchased...

Pinking Shears, because the way my hunt was going I think I will end up needing these at some point and I would like to be prepared... after all i think i will be wearing wigs for a very long time as it took me 4 months to regrow 7cm of hair after i had brain surgery. I wonder how long it will take now after proton beam therapy 🤔

These are the pinking shears i ordered as i believe at the time these were the cheapest ones i could find.

Why Pinking shears I hear you ask? To be honest i thought the same.

I read and watched videos about this. So pinking shears are meant to make the lace blend in to your hair line better and make it look more natural, so you don't have such a harsh line going across your forehead. I'm sure i will test this theory at some point and let you know....

Third item i purchased...

So I also heard a lot of people speaking about wig grips and a friend of mine recommended i try one also with my wigs as its extra security so the wig doesnt fall off and will help with my confidence as it would be 1 less thing to worry about.

After a little research I came across Dreamlover wig band.

I have seen this design everywhere and I'm guessing they created this design? please correct me if i am wrong.

After reading all the positive reviews I decided to purchase this one:

Once the Grip arrived i realised I had ordered the wrong shade for me, therefore I returned it and repurchased in the Dark Brown as i wanted it to match my hair colour, I am yet to see if this decision was right or wrong? are we meant to order it in skin colour or hair colour? this I haven't checked but i will now....

The verdict is in... we are meant to match it to the wig colour specifically the root colour as it may show up under some wigs. so i feel i made the right choice as the wigs I am looking for would be dark brown.

I will report back if this wig grip is any good... Can you recommend any other items i should purchase as a first time wig wearer?
